2) Scope
This Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal data when you use the App, our website(s), and related services. It applies to users in the UK and worldwide, subject to applicable laws. “UK GDPR” refers to the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.
3) Personal data we collect
We collect and process the following categories of data, depending on how you use the Service:
Account & Profile Data: name, email address, country/region, preferences (e.g., units, left/right-handed), handicap range and any golf profile details you choose to provide.
App Usage & Training Data: practice session selections, club choices, ball counts, notes, completion status, in-app settings, error reports and performance telemetry.
Device & Technical Data: device identifiers, OS and app version, language, time zone, IP address, diagnostic logs and performance metrics.
Support & Communications: messages you send us (e.g., support requests, feedback) and related metadata.
Payments: purchases are handled by Apple App Store and Google Play. We receive limited information to reconcile purchases (e.g., a store-side transaction or subscription status). We do not store full payment card details.
4) Device permissions & platform APIs
Camera: We do not request or access your device camera.
Microphone, Photos/Media, Contacts, Calendars, Location, Bluetooth: we do not request or access these.
If a future feature ever needs a permission, we will ask first and show a clear purpose explanation in-app.
5) General audience & age
The Service is suitable for a general audience. We do not include Parental Controls or Age Assurance features and we do not require users to provide their age or date of birth. If you are a parent/guardian and believe your child has provided us personal data, contact us at team@golfrangetrainer.com so we can address it.
6) Why we use your data (purposes & legal bases)
Provide and operate the Service (create/maintain accounts, deliver features, store sessions) — Performance of a contract.
Customer support & communications (respond to queries, service notices) — Performance of a contract; Legitimate interests.
Analytics & service improvement (usage trends, crash diagnostics, QA) — Legitimate interests; Consent where required.
Security & fraud prevention (detect misuse, protect accounts) — Legitimate interests; Legal obligation.
Compliance (tax, accounting, legal requests) — Legal obligation.
Marketing (optional) (with your consent, e.g., newsletters) — Consent. You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us or using available controls.
7) Sharing your data
We share personal data only as necessary with:
Service providers / processors (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics/crash reporting, support tools) bound by contracts to protect your data and act only on our instructions.
App stores (Apple/Google) for purchase validation and subscription management.
Professional advisers (legal, accounting) under confidentiality.

We do not sell personal data.

9) Retention
We retain data only as long as necessary for the purposes above:
Account & profile data: for the life of your account and up to 24 months after closure (unless longer is required by law or to resolve disputes).
Training data: while your account is active and up to 36 months thereafter (aggregated/anonymised insights may be retained longer).
Diagnostic logs: typically 12–24 months.
Support communications: 24 months after resolution.
Purchase validation data: as required for reconciliation and applicable laws.
We periodically review and securely delete or anonymise data that is no longer needed.
10) Your rights
Subject to legal limits, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time. We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data (including encryption in transit, access controls and monitoring). No system is perfectly secure; please keep your device and login credentials safe and up to date.
